Last year it was a pleasure to be back in Valencia, Spain – my home for 5 years – and getting to photograph this beautiful couple Carmen & Juanjo in a location close to my heart.
They chose one of my favourite places on the Costa De Valencia coast to have their photo shoot – Oliva Beach. It is a beach which I would argue as being as good as the beaches of the Caribbean, with its miles of soft sand, shallow warm waters (in Summer & Autumn of course!) and its dunes swathed in long wild grasses.
Sometimes you hit lucky when photographing a couple. A couple who truly appreciates the art of photography and are willing to trust in my vision. We started shooting at Golden Hour, that time of day when the light is just delicious & the perfect time for this type of shoot. Because we chose to shoot at this time (just before sunset) it meant that we could capture images with that gorgeous warm & golden light along with the more dramatic dusk silhouette shots.
When I am commissioned to photograph an event overseas, whether that be a destination wedding, couples or engagement shoot, or simply a celebration, I am always keen to speak with my clients as much as possible before the shoot. We usually will get in touch & speak via Skype or FaceTime so that we can get to know one another a little before the big day. As Carmen & Juanjo are Spanish it was a great excuse for me to brush up on my Spanish language skills – a little rusty but we managed to converse and get exactly what we needed both before & during the shoot.
Oh and did I mention that Carmen & Juanjo are an amazingly attractive couple – guapísimo!!
Take a look below at a few of my favourite photographs or watch the YouTube video for the highlights of the shoot. Don’t forget to set it to full screen & switch the video to HD!
