I’m always humbled when another photographer asks me to shoot a wedding with them, and when asked me fly over to Madrid for a wedding in the Spanish countryside how I could have said no? Giving me the perfect excuse to return to my ‘2nd home’ where I spent 5 wonderful years of my life, and where my photography journey began. Photographing in Spain always excites me, there’s nothing more beautiful than that soft Spanish light – especially at the magical time of Golden Hour.
Only 23 minutes drive from Madrid yet a whole world away from the hustle & bustle of the city, the impressive Finca La Granjilla with it’s stone facade & pillars is: rural, rustic & typical of the Spanish countryside, and was transformed by the Bride & Groom into a wedding venue which encapsulated their taste, style, and love of the countryside. They made their vows in the walled-chapel in the grounds of Finca La Granjilla, it was filled to the brim with Teresa & Pablo’s family & friends celebrating the moment they became Husband & Wife.
While the guests made their way over to the main house where the cocktail hour took place, we took a stroll around the grounds for the couples portraits and by this time the light was simply beautiful: soft, warm, and golden – the perfect time to create some intimate images of the two of them.
As the sun was setting, we returned to the wedding party where everyone then made their way to the open-air dining area which was adorned with candles & festoon lighting, giving the entire evening a feeling of romance & intimacy.
And in true Spanish style, once the DJ set began, everyone was celebrating and dancing into the early hours of the morning.
